Internet, television and calling will be more expensive for many Dutch from July. Nearly all Dutch providers of these services are implementing price increases, according to comparison site Pricewise.

Ziggo is implementing an average price increase of 1.65 euros per month. According to Ziggo, the price increase is necessary for further investments in the network, in order to process the considerably increased data consumption.

Dutch FilmWorks is launching an experiment in which they will send people caught downloading torrents a 'fine' of 150 euros, per download. The Dutch film distributor is starting with people who illegally downloaded new film The Hitman's Bodyguard, the company announced on Thursday, NU.nl reports.

Dutch telecom providers Ziggo and XS4ALL are blocking access to torrent site The Pirate Bay after the court in The Hague ordered them to do so. Ziggo blocked the site on Wednesday, and XS4ALL plan to do so on Thursday, RTL Nieuws reports.

Film distributor Dutch Filmworks (DFW) plans to soon start fining Dutch pirates, owner Willem Pruijssers said to RTL Z. Starting in October, the distributor plans to track Dutch illegally downloading or streaming its products. Those caught doing so will be sent a "settlement letter" with a fine amount, which they can either pay or fight in court, according to the broadcaster.

The Supreme Court of the Netherlands is sending a series of questions to the European Court of Justice to decide if by sharing torrent files, The Pirate Bay is violating Europe's copyright directive. The questions concern a court case brought by copyright protection organization Brein against internet service providers Ziggo and XS4ALL.

Following Ziggo and XS4ALL, now KPN will also remove the block on The Pirate Bay website, announced KPN, Friday.

The "Brein" foundation will appeal the verdict of the The Hague court, late January, that ruled Internet providers Xs4all and Ziggo no longer have to block download website "The Pirate Bay." The block had been in affect since January 2012.

Based on the study done by the University of Amsterdam (UvA) and Tilburg University, downloading from illegal sources has amplified several months after a court ordered ISPs in the country to stop access to The Pirate Bay.
