At least nine people were injured in a natural gas explosion at a housing block in The Hague, the fire department said. Emergency crews saved three people from the resultant building collapse, but there was still one person trapped that rescuers knew about.

By 6:50 p.m., the fire department personnel made contact with the trapped person. A plan was being crafted to safely rescue the victim, a 28-year-old man, the fire department confirmed to several media outlets.

Rebuilding Sint Maarten after the devastation Hurricane Irma left behind, will cost hundreds of millions of euros at least, Minister Ronald Plasterk of Home Affairs and Kingdom Relations said in the Tweede Kamer on Thursday. From next week Friday, the Dutch government will work on starting an aid fund for the island, NU.nl reports.

The first plane carrying evacuees from Sint Maarten is on its way back to the Netherlands. The air force KDC-10 plane is expected to land at Eindhoven air base at around 3:30 p.m., Omroep Brabant reports. The evacuees were previously only taken as far as Curacao.

King Willem-Alexander will visit Sint Maarten, Sint Eustatius and Saba on Monday to see the aftermath of Hurricane Irma with his own eyes, Minister Ronald Plasterk of Home Affairs and Kingdom Relations said on Curacao on Sunday afternoon, ANP reports.

Plasterk spoke with the press after visiting patients at the Sint Elisabeth Hospital, who were flown to Curacao after the hurricane to get medical treatment. Before that he and the King visited the meteorological service in Curacao and the Parera naval center.

The search action after the accident with collapsing cranes in Alphen aan den Rijn on Monday has been called off. Two cranes and a large section of bridge collapsed on four properties No further victims have been found.

Two cranes installing a portion of the Juliana Bridge in Alphen aan den Rijn toppled over Monday afternoon, injuring as many as 20 people. The regional safety office initially suggested about two dozen were hurt, but said that number could actually be lower.

Of the 750 Dutch citizens who were known to be in Nepal at the time of last month’s devastating earthquake, nearly two dozen are still missing, according to the Dutch government. Meanwhile, a Netherlands fundraising effort to assist the relief operation topped 8.5 million euros.

On Wednesday the Dutch ambassador to India and Bhutan, Alphonsus Stoelinga, visited the search and rescue base camp in Kathmandu, Nepal. He went there to offer support. The Under Secretary General for Humanitarian and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Valerie Ann Amos also visited the camp.

The Dutch Urban Search and Rescue team in Nepal once again searched a number of areas on Wednesday and only found deceased victims. The team also handed the overall coordination to the United Nations.
