A video surfaced showing serious abuses at duck breeding companies in the Netherlands, specifically when the animals are being caught and transported. Animal rights organizations are horrified, RTL Nieuws, who published the video, reports.

The video, made by Animal Rights last winter, shows a young duck being stomped to death, ducks being brutally crammed into crates, and being grabbed by their wings and legs. It also shows two employees throwing a young duck between each other in what seems to be a game.

Dutch slaughterhouses do not always care about animal welfare. Pigs drowning in piping hot water and calves being skinned alive are among the cruelties inspectors found, RTL Nieuws reports based on documents requested from the Dutch food and consumer product safety authority NVWA.

A bull escaped from a slaughterhouse on Jan van Galenstraat in Amsterdam-West on Friday morning and roamed the streets of te city for around 30 minutes. The animal was finally caught by the police and a veterinarian, who lured him back into captivity using a cow, AT5 reports.

Economic Affairs State Secretary Martijn van Dam and slaughterhouses in the Netherlands came to an agreement on voluntary camera supervision to monitor against animal abuse. The cameras will make sure that there is a good view on all actions involving living animals. "You must be able to see every step in the process", Van Dam said to broadcaster NOS.

Departing State Secretary Martijn van Dam of Economic Affairs wants to install cameras in Dutch slaughterhouses and give the footage to Dutch food safety authority NVWA to monitor abuse. This is in reaction to leaked footage showing horrible abuses in a Belgian slaughterhouse, AD reports.

The video from Tielt, Belgium shows pigs being kicked and beaten, being cut open while fully conscious and being drowned. The slaughterhouse, which also supplied some Dutch butchers, was closed indefinitely.

A bull escaped from a slaughterhouse in Dodewaard on Monday and injured a man during his flight, according to the Gelderlander.

The animal scooped the man up with his head and threw him into the air. The bull luckily had no horns. The victim was taken to a hospital for a checkup. 

A gamekeeper shot and killed the escaped bull near Matensestraat. The gamekeeper was called in by the police.

It is unclear how the bull managed to escape.

The Centraal Bureau Levensmiddelenhandel (CBL) (Central Grocery Retail Agency) is shocked by statements of anonymous meat inspectors in a broadcast of Zembla. In the broadcast on Thursday the inspectors state that fecal bacteria are present in much of the slaughtered meat.
