The suburbs around the large cities in the Netherlands have relatively many residents with a high income, while the median income in the cities themselves are largely lower than the national average, according to figures Statistics Netherlands published on Tuesday.
Power outages in Amsterdam and Arnhem left thousands of people in the dark on Monday. Power is already restored to Amsterdam, and Arnhem residents should have electricity again by 1:30 p.m., grid manager Liander said on Twitter.
The Amsterdam outage affected some 26,700 residents of West and Nieuw-West, according to Het Parool. The Slotervaart hospital had to switch to backup power, but the OLVG hospital and Antoni van Leeuwenhoek hospital were unaffected. The outage also caused some disruptions to tram lines 1, 2 and 17.
Almost 11 percent of children in the Netherlands were receiving treatment from youth support last year, Statistics Netherlands announced on Friday. Youth support helps and treats kids below the age of 18 who have psychological problems, mental disorders or educational problems.
