The municipality of Amsterdam is hard at work getting artworks for the subway stations along the city's new Noord-Zuid subway line. The Rokin station will feature huge mosaics made of stone by British-French artist duo Danie Dewar and Gregory Gicquel, Het Parool reports.
A selection from about 700 thousand items dug up at the construction of the Noord/Zuid subway line in Amsterdam will be displayed at the new Rokin station. The items range from modern cellphones to tools dating from 2 thousand years before Christ.
Passersby on the Rokin in Amsterdam should not be alarmed if they hear large bangs from underground. Dynamite is being used to demolish support walls in the construction of the Noord/Zuidlijn.
