This year was a good one for the richest people in the Netherlands, according to the Quote 500. The combined wealth of the 500 richest Netherlands residents increased by over 10 percent and the Netherlands now counts a record 37 billionaires. Though for the third year in a row, the magazine mentioned how few women there are in the list - only 37.
The richest Dutch became even richer over the past year, according to Quote's list of the 500 wealthiest Dutch. The total wealth of the people on this list increased by 11.6 percent to 163 billion euros. The richest Dutch person is still Charlene de Carvalho-Heineken, with 12.8 billion euros in capital, RTL Nieuws reports.
The Quote 500 of richest Dutch contains more billionaires than ever before this year. The Netherlands currently counts 26 people worth more than a billion euros. Charlene de Carvalho-Heineken is the richest Dutch person. And despite the list being topped by a woman, Quote calls it "painful" how few women made the list, the Volkskrant reports.
Frits Goldschmeding, founder of recruitment agency Randstad, is again on top of the Quote 500 list - the list of the richest Netherlands residents. This is despite seeing his wealth drop by a quarter this past year, AD reports.
Goldschmeding tops the list with assets amounting to 3.5 billion euros. Second place went to construction magnate Dik Wessels, who saw his assets increase by 10 percent to 3.3 billion euros. And in third is chemisstry billionaire Hans Melchers, whose assets increased by 25 percent to 2.5 billion euros.
The richest people in the Netherlands seem to be doing well for themselves. For the first time since the crisis, the 500 richest Dutch people saw their collective wealth grow by 10 percent. And four new billionaires have been added to the list.
Dutch Television mogul John De Mol bought up a 5.1-percent stake in Amsterdam-based GPS device manufacturer TomTom. De Mol purchased about 11.7 million shares, local media reported on Wednesday citing a statement from the financial market regulator AFM.
