Around 50 climate activists from the group Smash Cruiseshit blocked the departure of Dutch cruise ship Zuiderdam from the German city of Kiel on Sunday afternoon, the action group said in a press release. The activists occupied a construction crane, positioned rowboats in front of the ship, and blocked access to the bollards to which the ship was moored.

The police arrested 20 people on Friday morning during an unannounced demonstration at the Shell headquarters in The Hague. Twelve were arrested for committing vandalism, eight for not following police orders, NU.nl.

The demonstrators sprayed graffiti on the walls of the building, among other things. Some 50 demonstrators in total showed up to protest at Shell headquarters on Carel van Bylandtlaan.

The police took the detainees to a police station for processing. A area was made available for the remaining protesters to hold their demonstration.

Minister Hugo de Jonge of Public Health thinks it is a "good idea" for municipalities to keep pro-life protesters at an appropriate distance from abortion clinics. He supports municipalities who want to protect the women going to these clinics by creating buffer zones around the clinics. "I am in contact with the municipalities and the clinics about that", the Minister said, AD reports.

An estimated 200 taxi drivers will be protesting on the Malieveld in The Hague on Tuesday afternoon against ride-hailing service Uber. Before the protest, two convoys of taxis will travel to The Hague from Amsterdam and Rotterdam at low speeds, not exceeding 60 kilometers per hour. The taxi drivers expect to start their protest in The Hague just after noon, the Telegraaf reports.

A 'yellow vest' protester was killed in a hit-and-run during a highway blockade on the E25 highway near Visé, just across the border with the Netherlands, on Friday. The 50-year-old man was hit by a truck, which then fled the scene. A 56-year-old man from Dongen in Noord-Brabant was arrested on Saturday, the Public Prosecutor in Liege, Belgium confirmed, NOS reports.

A group of anti-Zwarte Piet protesters occupied a footbridge to the Mediapark in Hilversum on Monday morning. They call on broadcaster NTR to use only so-called Chimney Pieten with soot marks on their faces in the Sinterklaasjournaal, instead of Pieten with completely black faces, NU.nl reports.

To prevent the national arrival of Sinterklaas from getting out of hand, the municipality of Zaandstad is implementing extra security measures and strict rules for protestors. Demonstrators will have fixed areas for their protests, far away from other protesting groups, and there will be access gates and extra searches at the arrival on November 17th, ANP reports.

The area where Sinterklaas arrives, will be closed down with fences. Visitors can only enter through access gates, where bags and jackets will be searched. No glassware or drones will be allowed.

The police cleared protesting students out of the University of Amsterdam's P.C. Hoofdhuis building on Friday evening. A total of 30 students were arrested for trespassing - they were not allowed inside the building. All of them were released from custody again on Saturday evening, NU.nl reports.

A group of students occupied the P.C. Hoofthuis of the University of Amsterdam on Friday. They are protesting against government budget cuts and the "erosion of education", ANP reports.

The students, calling themselves Autonomous University Postcolonial House, barricaded the entrances of the building on Spuistraat and hung a red banner from the roof. The banner reads: 'Autonomous University'.

The Dutch police unions are calling on their members to only respond to emergency reports in the weekend of September 14th to 16th, and to perform no other of their duties. This forms part of long ongoing labor actions for a better collective bargaining agreement for the police, NOS reports.

This is the most severe labor action ever taken by the police, a spokesperson for the unions said to NOS. "But we have to take this step. If noting changes now, we will soon not be able to be there when citizens need us." The action will have major consequences, according to the unions.

Train travelers entering the city center get the warning that they're doing so at their own risk, because fewer police officers are working there this morning. People traveling through Utrecht Central Station on Monday morning should take delays into account due to police officers protesting for a better collective bargaining agreement, according to the police unions. Between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., the police will construct cordons around the station in a labor action they call "danger zone", NU.nl reports.

Travelers will only be able to enter and leave the station through these cordons. This will cause delays, according to police unions ACP, NPB, ANPV an VMHP.

During the action, officers will stop people trying to enter the city center and point out banners that read: 'Enter at own risk: No police", AD reports.

The police and activists clashed during a protest against gas extraction in Farmsum, Groningen on Tuesday. The activists are blocking access to a NAM site in the town. Police kept them away from the fence with batons and pepper spray, RTL Nieuws reports.
