Wednesday was a special day for Dierenrijk Nuenen. Not only was it international polar bear day, but two polar bear cubs born at the zoo late last year were allowed outside for the first time.
The Dierenrijk zoo in Nuenen welcomed two new arrivals. Polar bear Frimas gave birth to two healthy cubs over the weekend. According to the zoo, mother and cubs are doing well and are still in the birth cage, while father Henk is waiting impatiently outside.
One of the polar bear triplets that were born in Ouwehands Zoo on November 22nd, has died. Using images from the nursery, the zookeepers have determined that only two of the cubs are still alive.
