An Amsterdam appellate court re-sentenced former K-1 heavyweight champion Badr Hari to a 24-month prison term of which 10 months will be a conditional probation period. The prison term is for a series of convictions for violent crimes, including the aggravated assault of Koen Everink during the 2012 edition of Sensation White at the Amsterdam ArenA, the court stated Thursday.

A court judge has ruled in favor of a municipality when the judge imposed a 24,000 euro fine on a man and his adult son after renting out their property via Airbnb. The municipality reported had them fined because they has rented out their house on Zwanenburgwal to tourists. De Telegraaf noted that the tourists had paid dearly for the house.

A tour of five major insurance companies in the Netherlands has revealed that if you ride a Vespa scooter in Amsterdam, chances are it will be stolen. The scooter brand and the city dubbed “Not a happy marriage”. According to one of the insurers, “95 percent of all Vespa’s in Amsterdam are reported stolen within five years”, reports Parool.

Two cars went up in flames in Oostknollendam, Noord-Holland on Monday night. Both cars belonged to Harold Halewijn, chairman of the GroenLinks faction in the Wormerland municipal council. As the cars were not parked right next to each other, it is very likely that arson was involved

Of the 176 people arrested around the Amsterdam ArenA during the Amsterdam Dance Event, prosecutors are pressing cases against 39 for drug possession. Prosecutors say 19 people paid fines on the spot, while the rest either received fines or court dates.

A district court in Amsterdam concluded that travel price comparison website Skyscanner was rightfully found in violation of the Dutch Advertising Code Foundation (SRC) for publishing inaccurate prices from travel agent Govolo. The complaint was issued in September 2013 when the SRC determined that Govolo would later add “booking costs” on top of an airfare price shown to Skyscanner users.

The leader of the motorcycle gang No Surrender's Amsterdam branch, Brian Dalfour, was found killed in a small house in the remote Noord-Brabant village of Wagenberg, the gang announced on Facebook. Police arrested a 39-year-old Belgian man and an unidentified 46-year-old man with no fixed address in connection with the murders of Dalfour and Muljaim Nadzak, 34, from Macedonia.

A Boeing 777 was shot down by a missile over east Ukraine on July 17, 2014, the Dutch Safety Board announced in their final report into the crash of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17. "Flight MH17 crashed as a result of the detonation of a warhead outside the airplane," tearing off the front portion of the aircraft, the Board concluded.

A 34-year-old woman from Heerhugowaard was shocked upon the discovery of a dead infant wrapped in shopping bags inside her storage shed. The woman, Sandra Popma, suspects that the baby was left there by a homeless friend who was using Popma’s shed for storage.
