The police rescued a 17-year-old girl from the trunk of a car in the Limburg village of Peel on Thursday morning. The girl had been reported missing a few days earlier. A 22-year-old man from Panheel was arrested. The girl is doing well under the circumstances, the police said in a statement.
Public health institute RIVM issued a "smog alarm" for Noord-Brabant, Zuid-Holland, Limburg, Zeeland, Noord-Holland, Flevoland and Utrecht. Temperature readings in Eindhoven soared on Wednesday, hitting 39.3 degrees setting a new record for the hottest day ever recorded in the Netherlands. The old record was set in Warnsveld on August 23, 1944 with a temperature of 38.6 degrees.

A 15-year-old girl died in a collision between a speedboat and a rubber boat off the coast at Zoutelande on Tuesday afternoon. What caused the collision is not yet clear. The driver of the speedboat was arrested, Omroep Zeeland reports.
The accident happened at around 3:15 p.m. The girl was on the rubber boat. The police are investigating how the accident happened. As far as is known, no one else was hurt.
The girl came from the Limburg village of Neer. Her family and other witnesses were offered support and aid.

The police arrested a 27-year-old man in Maastricht on Wednesday on suspicion of involvement in terrorism. He is suspected of inciting a terrorist crime in the Netherlands and cooperating in training people to become a terrorist, the Public Prosecutor said on Thursday.

A 68-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman were identified by police as the two people murdered in violent incidents at a dog park in Heerlen on Tuesday morning. The off-leash area is part of the Brunssummerheide, a large nature preserve bordering the Limburg municipality.
Four people were hurt in a stabbing incident at a care facility in Maastricht on Wednesday. The suspect, one of the location's clients, was also injured in the morning violence, police said in a statement.
An employee of the care center on Vijverdalseweg and the suspect were taken to an area hospital. The other three victims were treated at the scene.
The incident was first reported to authorities at about 5:50 a.m. The motive was still under investigation four hours later.
Two people were found killed in a nature preserve near Heerlen. The man and woman were the victims of an act of violence at the Brunssummerheide, police in the Limburg province said.
A person walking in the nature area found the woman's lifeless body along with a dog and called police just before noon. About 30 minutes later a dead man was found near the first crime scene, which was then reported in to police. He also was accompanied by a dog.
A body was discovered in the Maas river in the Limburg town of Meers on Monday night. The police are investigating.
So far it is not yet clear whether the victim died in an accident or a crime, the Limburg police said on Twitter. Their identity is also not yet known.

A 5-year-old boy was injured when he fell out of a fairground attraction in the Limburg village of Helden on Saturday evening. Loose cows caused multiple accidents on the A73 highway near Oirlo in Limburg early on Friday morning. At least one person was injured in a collision and one cow was put down after being hit by a car, the Limburg police said on Twitter.

A group of around 30 people jumped out of a truck on the A2 highway near Gronsveld in Limburg on Thursday morning. They then fled on foot into the Maastricht neighborhoods, the police said.
The people jumped out of the truck at around 8:45 a.m. The group consists of adults and children, a police spokesperson said to NU.nl. A number of them are barefoot. At this stage the police assume the people are undocumented migrants, according to the newspaper. "In any case, they don't seem to come from the Netherlands", the police spokesperson said.

A man was found dead “under suspicious circumstances” in an apartment in Weert, Limburg during the early hours of Friday morning. The police went to the man’s home on Zilvermeeuw at around 2:30 a.m. after a report that he had not been seen for several days, the Telegraaf reports.
