An investigation was launched into a threat to kill Sinterklaas during his national arrival in Dokkum last year, the Public Prosecutor confirmed to the Telegraaf. The threat, aimed at Stefan de Walle, the actor who plays Sinterklaas, was made by the leader of left-wing extremist group De Grauwe Eeuw, according to the newspaper.
Two Dutch-Turks are currently in custody in Greece on suspicion of involvement in a plan to kill Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan. They form part of a group that planned an attack on the Turkish president using rockets and Molotov cocktails, the Telegraaf reports.
Anil S. (25) from Amsterdam and Burak A. (23) from Eindhoven were arrested during an anti-terrorism action in Greece on November 28th. According to the newspaper, S. is on the national terrorism list, and both Dutch-Turks are affiliated with left-wing extremist group DHKP-C.
Last year there were five investigations within the Dutch Armed Forces into possible radicalization of employees, ANP reports based on documents received from Defense at the news wire's request. Three of the investigations concluded that the involved employees were not radicalized. The other two are still ongoing.
New indications point to terrorist organization Islamic State planning more attacks in Europe, according to National Coordinator for Counterterrorism and Security Dick Schoof. But there are currently no concrete indications of an attack being planned in the Netherlands and the threat level therefore remains unchanged at "substantial", he writes in the Terrorist Threat Assessment Netherlands, which was sent to Parliament on Wednesday.
