The number of schools in the Netherlands for pupils between 10 and 14 years old will double in the coming school year. These middle-schools are an experiment intended to help pupils with the transition from primary school to secondary school.
At least three people died during a massive storm that hit the Netherlands on Thursday. Three men were killed in separate accidents in Zwolle, Enschede, and Vuren, the local police departments report.
In Venlo a police car crashed into a pole after the officer driving had to swerve out to avoid another police car. Two police officers were taken to the hospital, NOS reports.
The accident happened around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning. The officers were responding to a report of a break in at a supermarket in Horst.
The car that crashed into the pole sustained severe damage. The extent of the officers injuries is unknown.
No one was arrested for the break in, a police spokesperson said to NOS.
"The huge blow threw everyone to the ground. When I woke I saw people screaming, bloodied faces and chaos. It was just like in a movie", 29 year old Lennie Wagemans from Horst told RTL Nieuws. She and a friend, Hanneke, were at Zaventem airport in Brussels on Tuesday when suicide bombers attacked.
