British competition watchdog CMA approved Heineken's acquisition of Punch Taverns' British pubs. The Dutch brewer made sufficient concessions to remove competition concers, the CMA decided, ANP reports.

The supervisor found 33 locations where the competition between pubs would be affected by Heineken taking over the Punch Taverns pubs. Heineken then submitted proposals to sell the pubs involved.

After over 20 years of partnership, the Amsterdam ArenA and beer maker Grolsch are parting ways, the ArenA announced on Monday. From this year until 2026 Heineken will deliver beer to the Ajax stadium, ANP reports.

The Tax authorities' investigative department FIOD caught three suspects selling brand-less beer as Heineken and Amstel. Eight businesses in Nijkerk, Putten, Rotterdam, Heusden and Linne were raided on Wednesday. So far no arrests were made, RTL Nieuws reports.

According to FIOD, the suspects bought brand-less beer from abroad, poured it into beer bottles and labeled them with Heineken and Amstel logos. They then sold them at higher prices. 

Several Dutch companies fell victim to this fraud. The investigation is still ongoing.

The Hungarian government is planning to implement a law that would ban all symbols that refer to Nazi occupation or communist suppression, which according to them, includes the red star on Heineken's logo. This means that Heineken may be forced to change its label in Hungary, RTL Nieuws reports.

The ideal candidate would be someone who would not mind to spend week after week in the world of beer. Working hours are flexible. The beer journalist will have to go to pubs, supermarkets, breweries and festivals to try beer and write about it.

Greek brewery Macedonian Thrace Brewery is claiming 100 million euros from Heineken in a lawsuit filed with the court in Amsterdam. According to the Greek brewery, the Dutch beer giant abused its position of power in Greece, NU.nl.

Officially the lawsuit is filed against Athenian Brewery, Heineken's Greek subsidiary. Macedonian Thrace Brewer claims that Heineken stalled the competition in the Greek beer market for years by making exclusive deals with retailers. The brewer claims that it could not achieve its growth potential due to Heineken's unfair competition.

Dutch brewer Heineken the currently loss-making Brazilian breweries of Japanese brewer Kirin Holdings, Heineken announced in a press release on Monday. Heineken, the second largest brewer in the world, will pay 1.025 billion euros in cash and debt acquisition for 12 beer brewing locations, production facilities and the distribution network Kirin Brasil has in place.

Dutch beer giant Heineken confirmed rumors that it is working on acquiring Brazilian brewery Kirin Brasil in a short press release on Friday. Should Heineken take over the Brazilian brewery, the Dutch brewer's market share in the country would double, BNR reports.

"In response to speculation in the media over Kirin, Heineken can confirm that it is in talks with Kirin about the Brazilian branch. These discussions are ongoing and it can not be said that there will actually be an agreement", the Dutch beer giant said in a press statement.

Frits Goldschmeding, founder of recruitment agency Randstad, is again on top of the Quote 500 list - the list of the richest Netherlands residents. This is despite seeing his wealth drop by a quarter this past year, AD reports.

Goldschmeding tops the list with assets amounting to 3.5 billion euros. Second place went to construction magnate Dik Wessels, who saw his assets increase by 10 percent to 3.3 billion euros. And in third is chemisstry billionaire Hans Melchers, whose assets increased by 25 percent to 2.5 billion euros.
