Around 23 thousand chickens were killed in a barn fire in Ospel, Limburg during the early hours of Thursday morning. The chickens could not be saved, the Limburg fire department said, ANP reports.

The fire started shortly after midnight in the barn of a company on Ommelpad. Firefighters managed to stop it spreading to two adjacent barns. No person was hurt. 

The cause of the fire is not yet clear.

Dozens of apartments in Scheveningen were evacuated on Wednesday morning due to a fire in a restaurant on Kalhuisplaats, near the boulevard. The fire has since been extinguished, ANP reports.

The fire caused a large amount of damage to the restaurant, according to the fire department. The residents of 63 apartments located above the restaurant were evacuated as a precaution. No one was injured

Firefighters are currently ventilating and checking the apartments. Evacuated residents were offered shelter at nearby beach tent Boonoonoonoos.

A building that burned down in Bergen op Zoom on Monday night contained an illegal cigarette factory. Tens of thousands of packets of cigarettes were found between the rubble of the burned building on Tuesday morning, Omroep Brabant reports.

The fire started in what was believed to be an empty building on an industrial terrain on Vierlinghweg on Monday night. It caused a massive cloud of smoke that spread over large parts of Bergen op Zoom and was even visible outside Noord-Brabant.

A large fire destroyed four business buildings on Nijverheidsstraat in Twello during the early hours of Monday morning. No one was hurt. Asbestos was released in the fire, and some of it ended up on adjacent train tracks. For that reason no trains are running between Apeldoorn and Deventer until at least 10:30 a.m., De Stentor reports.

A municipal garbage truck caught fire on Ferdinand Huyckstraat in Amsterdam-West on Thursday morning. The massive fire caused an explosion on the truck, shattering the windows of surrounding homes, AT5 reports.

The fire department has the fire under control and firefighters are working on extinguishing it. No one was injured. The explosion was caused by a gas cylinder on the garbage truck, a spokesperson for the fire department said to the Amsterdam broadcaster. 

The police closed down the street. Due to the smoke, people are advised to stay out of the area.

A fire in a residential care center Syndion on Vismarkt in Gorinchem resulted in the death of one resident on Tuesday. Firefighters now have the fire under control, ANP reports.

The victim was the resident of the apartment where the fire started. He was rushed to hospital, but died of his injuries.

The fire department evacuated the care center, which provides accommodation and care for people with mental disabilities. A spokesperson for the local safety office could not tell ANP where the evacuated residents were taken.

A large fire is raging in beach tent restaurant Blue Lagoon on the boulevard in Scheveningen. No one was injured.

The fire was discovered around 5:45 a.m. on Thursday, according to De Scheveninger. The fire  was under control around 7:05 a.m., but firefighters are still working on extinguishing it, the fire department said on Twitter.

Residential care complex Fermate on Handellaan in Zwolle was partially evacuated on Monday after a fire broke out. Firefighters are at the scene in large numbers, because there are many elderly people in the building, the local safety office said to ANP.

How many people were evacuated from their homes is not yet clear. They were taken to a nearby school. So far no injuries were reported.

The fire was noticed around 1:00 p.m. What caused it, is not yet clear.

A 5-year-old child was killed in a fire in a caravan park on Ir. Molsweg in Arnhem on Wednesday morning. The fire started in a caravan in which the child's family was staying. The fire brigade responded to the park around 8:15 a.m., De Gelderlander reports.

Four other members of the family were removed from the burning caravan and treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. The child died on the way to the hospital, according to the emergency services.

The caravan was completely on fire inside, according to the newspaper. Surrounding residents were evacuated.

A warehouse filled with vintage cars was destroyed in a fire in Kerkrade, Limburg on Friday morning. The fire department has the fire under control and is working on extinguishing it, AD reports.

The fire started around 5:30 a.m. in the warehouse on Wiebachstraat, near Parkstad Limburg Stadium. The cause of the fire is still unknown. No one was injured. The fire also spread to an adjacent tile store, but firefighters managed to save its showroom.

Franeker smells like caramel on Friday morning. According to the fire brigade, this is due to an overnight fire in a candy factory in the Friesland city, ANP reports.

A fire broke out in candy factory Royal Steensma during the early hours of Friday morning. The burning sugar caused a caramel-like smell in the air.

A body was found in a home on Akkerweg in Wijchen on Wednesday morning. The police responded to the home around 5:50 a.m. after receiving a report that the windows were blackened. The police suspect that a fire broke out "a few days earlier" and then burned itself out, De Gelderlander reports.

When firefighters entered the home, they found the body of a man. The victim has not yet been identified, but the police believe it is the occupant of the home.

Two people were injured in a large fire in a warehouse behind a house on Korte Bunder in Hoeven, Noord-Brabant during the early hours of Thursday morning. Several explosions were heard in the warehouse. The wounded persons were taken to hospital for treatment, ANP reports.

The fire started shortly after midnight. The explosions heard were caused by items stored in the warehouse.

A large fire in a home on Karel Doormanstraat in Haaksbergen left one person dead on Wednesday evening. The victim hasn't been identified yet, ANP reports.

The fire department received a report about the fire around 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Due to the enormous heat and flames, firefighters could not enter the home immediately and had to extinguish the fire from the outside. When they later managed to get into the home, they found the victim. The home was destroyed by the fire.

Multiple people were injured in a fire in an apartment building in Rotterdam during the early hours of Wednesday morning. A total of 13 people were treated for smoke inhalation, 11 of which were taken to hospital, AD reports.

The building in question is assisted living location Roobrughof. It houses young people with psychological problems. 

The fire started in a meter cupboard on the third floor of the five story building. When fire fighters arrived, a container on the ground floor also turned out to be on fire.

A man was seriously injured in an explosion in his third floor flat on Harry Meijerstraat in Venlo on Sunday afternoon. He was rushed to the burns center in Aken with a trauma helicopter, NU.nl reports.

The explosion caused a fire, which firefighters quickly managed to get under control. Seven people, including a number of first-responders, were checked over by paramedics because they breathed smoke. 

The apartment in which the explosion happened was declared uninhabitable. The cause of the explosion is not yet known.

A fire broke out in a home on Bilderdijkstraat in Vlijmen during the early hours of Monday morning. A neighbor noticed the fire around 01:15 a.m. and managed to get the woman living in the burning home outside before she sustained any injuries, Omroep Brabant reports.

The neighbor, a retired firefighter, woke up when the smoke alarms in his home went off. While his wife called the fire department, he went to his neighbor's home to see if he could help. He found a lot of smoke in the first floor of her home. He located the woman in her burning bedroom and helped her outside.

Firefighters evacuated dozens of apartments Wednesday night after a fire broke out in the ventilation system of Caffe Oslo near the Surinameplein. Several people were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene, but there were no serious injuries, the fire department said.

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 8 p.m. It took firefighters several hours to extinguish the blaze as they first had trouble locating it.

The facade panels that caused a disastrous fire in the Grenfell tower in London, were also used in multiple skyscrapers in the Netherlands, fire safety inspector Peter van der Leur of consultancy firm DGMR said to newspaper Trouw. He could not say on how many buildings exactly these flammable panels were used, but said that he encountered several buildings with facade panels that do not meet safety requirements.

An elderly Dutch couple were injured in a fire at a hotel in the Czech capital of Prague on Saturday night. The victims are an 82-year-old man and a 78-year-old woman, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed. The Dutch embassy is in contact with the couple's traveling companions and stands ready to help where needed, a spokesperson for the Ministry said to RTL Nieuws.

A massive fire in a monumental building on Voorstraat in Velddriel early on Sunday morning largely destroyed the homes of 17 people, including a week old baby and a pregnant woman. A cannabis plantation was discovered during the extinguishing of the fire, the police confirmed. Whether the plantation was responsible for the fire is not yet clear.

The fire started around 2:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. The building is currently uninhabitable, Omroep Gelderland reports. The back side of the building sustained significant damage - the roof collapse and most of the windows are broken.

The A4 highway is closed in both directions near Bergen op Zoom due to a burning truck. The truck was transporting frying fat when it caught fire. 

The road at the Zoomland junction is covered in grease and extinguishing water. The road will be closed in both directions until the fire is extinguished and the road surface has been cleaned. This is expected to take until 1:00 p.m., according to broadcaster NOS.

People traveling to Rotterdam and Antwerp can detour through Breda.
