Video: One dead, two injured in Oldenzaal house fire

One person died and two others were hospitalized Sunday afternoon after a fire destroyed a row house on Frederik van Eedenstraat in Oldenzaal, RTL reports.

Flames were already shooting from an upper-floor room when firefighters arrived. The home was completely burned out, the fire brigade said. Thick smoke poured from the building. Emergency crews responded with multiple units, and a trauma helicopter landed nearby.

The street quickly filled with onlookers who watched in disbelief and showed strong emotions. Mayor Patrick Welman was among those at the scene.

The cause of death remains unknown, and it was not immediately clear whether the victim was the resident. The safety region could reportedly not be reached immediately for further comment.
