A number of Dutch, Belgians and Irish persons were arrested on Thursday on suspicion of involvement in drug trafficking and money laundering in Ireland. A total of 13 suspects were arrested and the Irish police seized at least 7 million euros worth of cocaine and cannabis, RTL Nieuws reports.

KLM and other airlines scrapped a number of flights from Schiphol airport to Ireland and back for Monday. Hurricane Ophelia is expected to hit Ireland during the course of Monday morning.

Dutch airline KLM canceled a total of five flights between Schiphol Dublin and between Schiphol and Belfast.  The airline will reassess the situation during the course of Monday and see if any further changes to the schedule are necessary. At this time all flights to Scotland are still going through as planned.

The Irish police managed to stop an assassination attempt on Amsterdam gang leader Naoufal F. last week. The Amsterdam criminal is in custody in Ireland on suspicion of possession of fake documents and soft drugs, AT5 reports. 

According to local newspaper Sunday World, there were plans to assassinate F. in a prison in Dublin. The Irish police tipped the prison staff about the plans and they moved F. immediately. This happened on Thursday, according to the newspaper.

Amsterdam has the fourth most expensive public transport of all major European cities, according to the Relocation Price Index compiled by Movinga - an online platform for long-distance moves, AD reports.

According to the index, Amsterdam's public transit costs an average of 87.50 euros per month. Only London, Dublin and Cologne are more expensive in Europe. Cities like Berlin, Manchester, Copenhagen and Bordeaux are considerably cheaper.

The Irish believe that their are plans to break Amsterdam gang leader Noufal F. out of prison, according to the Telegraaf. F. is currently in custody in Ireland awaiting extradition to the Netherlands.

According to the newspaper, the Irish police have concrete indications that a special team was flown in from South American specifically to free F. during transport or from prison. When F. was transported earlier this week, all sorts of security forces accompanied the transport.

Amsterdam murder suspect Naoufal F. was arrested in Ireland last week. He was caught in a luxury apartment in Dublin which is linked to the Kinahan organized crime gang. F. was a suspect in two Amsterdam assassinations, but never prosecuted due to insufficient evidence.

Denmark is the most bike-friendly country, edging out cycling rivals in the Netherlands, the European Cyclists' Federation (ECF) revealed in their their second-ever Cycling Barometer. Even though Denmark takes the first place in cycling advocacy, the Netherlands landed on top for cycling usage, ECF reported.
