More than half of the 400 chemical- and other companies with a large risk factor in the Netherlands violated safety rules over the past two decades, the Volkskrant reports based on a survey of inspection reports. Over a fifth of the cases involved a medium to serious violation, according to the newspaper.

If the Brits decide to leave the European Union, it will cost the Netherlands up to 10 billion euros in the period to 2030, according to the Central Planning Bureau. The Netherlands is one of the U.K.'s major trading partners and will therefore be hit harder by a so-called Brexit than other EU countries

The jobs plan in Groningen will get 45 million euro. Employers and trade unions in the region are investing 27 million euro and Deputy Prime Minister Lodewijk Asscher (Social Affairs and Labor) has made approximately 18 million euro available for the plan.
