A 17-year-old girl from Zealand died from the measles. She was not vaccinated, reports the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM).
At least 1458 people contracted the measles or still have it, reports the RIVM (Rijksinstituut voor Volksgezondheid en Milieu) (National Institute for Public Health and Environment) Thursday. Since last week 110 new cases have been reported, more than twice as many as the week before.
The number of new reports of measles is halved the last week compared to the previous week. Last week there were 64 new cases. The week before, that number was still 127. These figures were published on Thursday by the RIVM.
Since May the Netherlands has seen a growing number of measles patients. In total, since May 1226 people were infected with the disease, mostly children between 4 and 12 years.
For the first time in the history of the SGP, a woman is running for a spot on the list in municipal elections. Lillian Janse wants, in the upcoming municipal elections in Vlissingen, to pull the cart as leader of the party. This is unique, because until March this year women could not run for the Christian party.
People need to think independently and then make a personal and conscientious consideration about vaccination. That said SGP leader Kees van der Staaij on Monday in the TV program Knevel and Van den Brink. About 60 percent of his followers are vaccinated, he estimated.
Van der Staaij is against forced vaccination. That gives unpleasant situations, he fears, and it works counterproductive. Moreover, 'it enters too deeply into the personal life’, says van der Staaij.
