A video showing a man firing an AK47 in a residential neighborhood in Rotterdam Zuid over New Year's led to the arrests of two men for illegal firearm possession, the police said in a statement. The video was found on a phone confiscated for another investigation.

The video shows a man shooting the automatic rifle in the air with fireworks going off in the background. The residents of the Rotterdam neighborhood seemingly did not notice the gunshots due to the fireworks being lit by others.

The police released video footage of two attempts to assassinate two people in a Range Rover in Rotterdam on September 10th. The perpetrators fired an automatic weapon, an AK47, at their targets first on Berlagestraat and then as their targets fled into the Alexandrium Shopping Center. As the streets and shopping center were pretty crowded when the shooting happened at 9:30 a.m. that morning, it is a miracle that no one got hurt, the police said on Opsporing Verzocht.

Dejan A., one of three suspected shooters in a quadruple murder in Enschede last year, tried to buy an automatic firearm shortly before the murders, the Public Prosecutor revealed in the court in Almelo on Tuesday during a pro-forma hearing against the suspected suppliers of the weapons used in the murders, De Gelderlander reports.

Members of a group arrested in September on suspicion of preparing for terrorist attacks in the Netherlands, received terrorism training at a holiday park in Weert on the day of their arrest. The training consisted of learning to use handguns and Kalashnikovs and fitting bomb vests, RTL Nieuws reports based on its own research and information from multiple sources.
