Man resuscitated in Hardewijk after having heart attack during road rage incident

First responders resuscitated a man in Hardewijk on Sunday afternoon after he suffered cardiac arrest during a road rage incident. The police arrested the other person involved, a 24-year-old man from Hardewijk, a police spokesperson confirmed to RTL Nieuws.

The police responded to a report of a road rage incident on Oranjelaan (N303) in the Gelderland town at around 2:45 p.m. on Sunday. At the scene, officers quickly realized that one of the involved parties had suffered a cardiac arrest.

An ambulance and a trauma team by helicopter were deployed to the scene. Aid workers resuscitated the man on the side of the road before transporting him to a hospital.

The police arrested the other man involved and are investigating his role in the situation.

It is unclear what exactly happened, the police spokesperson told RTL Nieuws. “It is possible, of course, that the cardiac arrest was the result of an underlying medical condition. At the same time, it is also logical, when two incidents follow in quick succession, to investigate whether there is a connection.”
