Video: Five hurt in Eindhoven home fire; Resident rescued through roof
Multiple people were injured in a home fire on Tongelresestraat in Eindhoven on Sunday afternoon. At least five people were treated for smoke inhalation, and firefighters had to rescue a resident from the roof, the local security office, Veiligheidsregio Brabant-Zuidoost, reported.
The emergency services responded to the fire in large numbers, deploying three fire trucks, two aerial platforms, and five ambulances to the scene.
The blaze caused a lot of smoke. Multiple people had climbed onto the roof from a dormer window to escape the smoke, Hart van Nederland reported. At least one person needed the help of an aerial platform to get down.
Five people needed treatment for smoke inhalation. Three were treated by paramedics on site, and two were taken to the hospital.
Firefighters managed to get the blaze under control relatively quickly. The fire was brief, but intense, said a Hart van Nederland reporter at the scene. The cause is under investigation.
In another housefire on Magnoliastraat in Eindhoven early on Sunday morning, a group of partygoers dressed in wedding gowns rescued the resident of the home, Eindhovens Dagblad reported.
The blaze started with an explosion at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday. The woman who lives in the home was woken by a loud bang and fled through a window. At that moment, a group of people attending a theme party was standing downstairs, most of them wearing wedding dresses. They helped the woman down and provided aid and comfort until the emergency services arrived, she told the newspaper. “They really saved me.”
The police arrested three men for suspected involvement in the explosion. Two suspects, aged 19 and 24, are from The Hague, and the third is a 20-year-old from Rotterdam. No one was injured.
