Hot weather peaking today with highs of 33 degrees Celsius; Cooler from tonight

The Netherlands’ recent streak of hot weather will peak today, with maximum temperatures climbing to 33 degrees Celsius in the southeast. It may feel muggy and uncomfortable, the KNMI warned. Tomorrow will be noticeably cooler, if still warm, with temperatures climbing no higher than 25 degrees.

Tuesday will be abundantly sunny with no chance of showers. Maximums will climb to around 30 degrees inland and up to 33 degrees in the southeast. Toward the end of the afternoon, it will cool down in the north due to a moderate wind from the sea. Elsewhere, there will be little wind.

Overnight, there is a small chance of a light shower in the west, but the rest of the country will remain dry. Minimum temperatures will drop to around 15 degrees in the south and 11 degrees in the northeast, with a moderate to strong northeasterly wind.

Wednesday will be a mix of sunshine and clouds, though the sun will get the upper hand by the afternoon. No rain is expected, and the day will be noticeably cooler than Tuesday, with maximums climbing to around 18 degrees in the north and up to 25 degrees in the south. The northeasterly wind will be moderate, but can be strong along the coast and on the IJsselmeer.

The rest of the week will be sunny, dry, and warm. Maximums around 25 degrees are expected on Thursday. On Friday, thermometers could again approach 30 degrees. “Over the weekend, the chance of a single rain shower or thunderstorm increases, and it becomes somewhat cooler,” the KNMI said.
