Video: Fire engulfs senior housing complex in The Hague, 40–50 evacuated
A major fire ripped through a senior housing complex in central The Hague early Sunday, destroying a third-floor apartment and forcing 40 to 50 residents to evacuate overnight, Omroep West reports.
The blaze broke out at the complex on Wagenstraat around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Flames were already shooting from the apartment when firefighters arrived, according to the fire department.
Authorities said evacuated residents were temporarily sheltered in a hotel and a mosque.
Crews brought the fire under control after about 30 minutes of firefighting operations, but the apartment was left devastated.
