Dozens of Dutch tourists affected by wildfires in France, Spain

The ANWB emergency center has received “dozens of reports” from Dutch holidaymakers affected by the forest fires in France and Spain. These include evacuated people asking questions about extra costs they are incurring or about their belongings left behind. There are no reports of damage or injury yet, a spokesperson said.

“Most reports are coming from the Bordeaux region,” said the spokesperson. “Some people were evacuated at a moment’s notice and had to leave everything behind.”

The Eurocross emergency center has also received reports. According to a spokesperson, around 11:00 a.m. there were 15 reports in total, including from “a few people” who were evacuated. Eurocross has also not yet received any reports of damage or injuries.

The ANWB advises holidaymakers in the affected areas to be prepared. “Pack an emergency bag with items to help you get through the first few hours. During an evacuation, you really won’t have time to grab things. And above all, follow local instructions.”
