Feyenoord director Dennis te Kloese to depart club after mutual decision
Dennis te Kloese will depart Feyenoord on July 1, 2026, after 4.5 years at the club. The director and the Supervisory Board have jointly decided to part ways in good consultation. Te Kloese has combined the roles of general and technical director since the summer of 2022. His exit leaves Feyenoord without anyone in either position, a situation made more difficult by the earlier departure of technical manager Mark Ruijl.
Te Kloese appears to be heading for a new challenge. While he told ESPN that nothing was yet underway, reports from Mexico suggest he is being considered as the next technical director of CF Monterrey.
Robert Eenhoorn is seen as a key candidate to take over from Te Kloese as general director. On the sporting side, Carlos Aalbers of NEC had already been linked to the role of technical director.
His exit comes after a challenging sporting spell, during which Te Kloese faced significant criticism and even personal threats following poor results after the appointment of Robin van Persie as manager.
Te Kloese was partly responsible for a successful period for the club when Arne Slot was the first team manager. Feyenoord won the Eredivisie title, the KNVB Cup, and reached the UEFA Conference League final during this time. But he was held responsible by Feyenoord fans for the disappointing results in the last two seasons since Slot left.
Brian Priske was hired to replace Slot, but the Dane was sacked in February due to disappointing results. He was succeeded by Van Persie, who made a good start to this season before the team’s form dropped off massively. It is now facing a battle to finish in second place, which guarantees a spot in the UEFA Champions League next season.
His move to Mexico would be a return to familiar territory; he previously worked for Tigres UNAM, Chivas Guadalajara, and the Mexican Football Federation (FMF)
Even before the news of his full departure, Feyenoord was already looking for a new technical director to lighten Te Kloese's workload. The club reportedly approached Kees van Wonderen for this role in early 2026, though a deal did not materialize at that time.
