Dutch tourist groups fight in Austrian après-ski bar; three injured
A fight at an après-ski bar in Gerlos, Austria, injured three people Saturday night, marking the latest incident involving visitors in the region this winter, AD reported.
Austrian police said the altercation began around 10:20 p.m. as a verbal dispute between two groups of four Dutch nationals. The argument quickly escalated into a physical confrontation involving punches and kicks. Security personnel intervened, separating the groups and ending the fight.
The incident resulted in injuries to three individuals. One of them was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Schwaz. Authorities have not disclosed the severity of the injuries.
The incident is part of a broader pattern of misconduct involving Dutch tourists in Austria this winter, particularly in Gerlos. Last month, a 33-year-old man was seriously injured following a dispute with a taxi driver. A separate case involved a 27-year-old Belgian man who required hospitalization after an intoxicated Dutch tourist randomly attacked him.
Regional authorities have introduced measures to curb disturbances caused by drunk tourists. In Sölden, officials have opted to close après-ski venues earlier. A Dutch security company also withdrew from St. Anton in December following a conflict with police.
