Three injured in Amsterdam stabbing after tourists intervene in street fight
Three people were injured in a stabbing on Kloveniersburgwal in central Amsterdam after they stepped in to break up a dispute between a man and a woman, police said Sunday.
The incident occurred at 12:43 a.m. on Saturday night into Sunday, when police received a report of a stabbing, a police spokesperson told AT5. According to authorities, a man and a woman were involved in an argument when three suspected tourists intervened to try to calm the situation.
The intervention escalated into a physical fight, during which the man involved in the original dispute stabbed the three bystanders. One of the victims was taken to a hospital for treatment. The other two sustained minor injuries. Police said no arrests have been made.
Investigators are appealing for witnesses and urging the three victims to come forward. “But there is a good chance the tourists are already on the plane,” a police spokesperson said.
