Video: Wrong-way driver causes crash with 4 cars on A67 near Venlo
A wrong-way driver caused a crash involving four other cars on the A67 near Venlo on Saturday afternoon, injuring the themselves and forcing a temporary highway closure, authorities said.
According to L1, emergency services received a report of a wrong-way driver at about 4:45 p.m. The collision occurred shortly afterward near Maasbree, west of Venlo, between Sevenum and Maasbree. Police later confirmed that the incident involved a wrong-way driver.
In total, five passenger cars were involved. The wrong-way driver was injured and taken to a hospital. One other person was transported for a medical check. No other injuries were reported. Rijkswaterstaat said three vehicles were removed by tow trucks after the crash. The damage was mainly material.
The incident caused significant traffic disruption. The A67 was fully closed for a time between the Panningen exit and Venlo-Noordwest. The left lane reopened first, followed later by the entire highway.
