Three teenagers arrested after fatal stabbing in Hoorn nightlife brawl
Three teenagers have been arrested after a 29-year-old man was fatally stabbed during a large nighttime brawl in Hoorn’s nightlife district Saturday evening, police told NOS and NH.
The victim, identified as Dario, 29, was stabbed during a mass fight involving about 20 people in the West-Friesland city’s entertainment area. He later died from his injuries. Several others were also injured in the violence.
Police said the situation escalated after the stabbing when a group involved in the disturbance turned against responding officers. Authorities deployed a police dog as the confrontation intensified.
The suspects — two minors and an 18-year-old man — are being held under full restrictions, meaning they are allowed contact only with their lawyers. They are scheduled to appear before an examining judge on Wednesday.
Police are still working to determine responsibility for the violence. “It is being examined who is responsible for what,” a police spokesperson told the ANP news agency.
Investigators believe the stabbing likely stemmed from a dispute earlier in the evening, regional broadcaster NH reported, though authorities have not confirmed the exact cause.
