Fatal stabbing after nightlife brawl leaves one dead in Hoorn

Police said Sunday that a stabbing in the Italian Zeedijk nightlife area in Hoorn on Saturday night, following a large brawl, left one person dead and two others injured.

The violence broke out in the city’s entertainment district, where a fight escalated into a stabbing. Emergency services responded in large numbers after a report at about 11:20 p.m. Saturday. A trauma helicopter was dispatched along with other emergency units to treat the victims at the scene.

Police confirmed that one of the three injured people has since died. Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased and said further information cannot yet be provided.

According to Hart van Nederland's reporter at the scene, a significant fight took place before the stabbing occurred, suggesting a rapid escalation of violence in the crowded nightlife area.

A local hospitality business owner told the newspaper that residents and workers in the area were deeply shaken. “It is normally never unrestful here,” the owner said.
