Sunshine and high temps giving way to hail and wet snow this week

The recent bout of lovely spring weather will turn back to winter this week. Sunshine and high temperatures for the year are still forecast for Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday, the weather will transition to clouds, showers, hail, and maybe even snow, KNMI reported.

Monday will see sunshine almost everywhere, interspersed with a few clouds, especially along the northern coast. No rain is expected, and there will be little to no wind. Maximums will range between 9 and 17 degrees Celsius, from the north coast to the southeast.

Tuesday will start with alternating sun and clouds. By the afternoon, the northwestern half of the country will be downright cloudy, but the sun will still shine further inland. Maximums will range between 10 degrees on the Wadden Islands and 16 degrees in the southeast, with no rain and a moderate to strong southwesterly wind.

“Wednesday will be a transition to bleak weather with more cloud cover, fairly strong winds, and a chance of thunderstorms, hail, and wet snow,” the KNMI said. The snowfall is most likely inland. Maximums will drop to around 9 degrees Celsius.

Friday and Saturday will be mostly dry and calm weather, but with “fairly cold nights.”
