Alleged drug dealer arrested in Amsterdam after high-speed car, foot chase
Police arrested a 24-year-old man after a high-speed car chase through central Amsterdam on Thursday night that ended in Noorderpark, AT5 reported. Officers in plain clothes had spotted the suspect allegedly conducting a drug deal on De Binnenkant around 9 p.m.
The suspect fled in a vehicle at high speed, entering the IJ Tunnel and colliding with a police car. Authorities discontinued the pursuit due to "the traffic and dangerous driving," according to police. The suspect's car reportedly lost a tire near Noorderpark, after which he continued on foot into the park.
Police blocked all exits from the park and deployed dogs to track the suspect. Police dog Bertus located him inside the park, and officers took him into custody.
Another police dog discovered cash linked to the suspect during a search of the park. No injuries were reported during the chase.
