Prosecutors add attempted rape charge for man accused of murdering 17-year-old Lisa

Dutch prosecutors have expanded charges against a man already accused of murdering 17-year-old Lisa in Duivendrecht and raping a woman in Amsterdam, adding an attempted rape tied to a third incident initially treated as a robbery, authorities said Monday.

The Public Prosecution Service said the suspect is now formally charged with the murder of 17-year-old Lisa on Aug. 20, 2025, in Duivendrecht; the rape of a woman on Aug. 15, 2025, on the Weesperzijde in Amsterdam; and the attempted rape of another woman on Aug. 10, 2025, also on the Weesperzijde. The attempted rape had not previously been included in the indictment because it was still under investigation.

Prosecutors said the Aug. 10 incident was at first believed to be a mugging. After the rape on Aug. 15 and the killing of Lisa days later, investigators reexamined the earlier case for a sexual component.

The added charge follows results from forensic testing conducted by the Netherlands Forensic Institute. Blood from the victim of the Aug. 10 attempted rape was found on one of the shoes believed to belong to the suspect. The shoe was seized and examined by the institute. Prosecutors said the finding strengthened the suspicion and led to the expansion of the indictment.

The investigation into the attempted rape is ongoing. Prosecutors said the status of all three cases—the murder, the rape and the attempted rape—will be discussed at the next pro forma hearing scheduled for Feb. 11, 2026. A prior pro forma hearing was held Nov. 25, 2025, before the attempted rape charge was added.

Authorities said the victim of the attempted rape, the victim of the rape and the relatives of Lisa have all been informed of the expanded charges.

Lisa was attacked while cycling home during the night of Aug. 19–20, 2025. Investigators said a man on a bicycle forced her off the road in Duivendrecht, rode away, then returned shortly afterward and fatally stabbed her. Prosecutors have said they have no doubt about the suspect’s involvement. His DNA was found on Lisa’s phone case.

Investigators also linked the cases through physical evidence. A gray hooded sweatshirt recovered at the location where Lisa was found contained DNA from the woman raped on the Weesperzijde on Aug. 15, prosecutors said.

The suspect was arrested Aug. 21, 2025, at a Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers facility in Amsterdam, close to the crime scenes. He has identified himself as Chris Jude and told authorities he is originally from Nigeria, saying the name consists of two given names, one allegedly assigned at an orphanage, NOS reported back in November. Prosecutors said his identity has been difficult to verify due to a lack of documentation.
