Video: Man shot at Confuciusplein in Amsterdam Nieuw-West, suspect remains at large

A man was wounded in a shooting Saturday night at Confuciusplein in the Slotermeer neighborhood of Amsterdam Nieuw-West, and police later located the victim at a different site, authorities said.

Police responded to a report at 8:36 p.m. at Confuciusplein, where officers found empty shell casings and blood traces but no victim, according to a police spokesperson. A search of the surrounding area followed.

Officers subsequently found the wounded man at another location. He was transported to a hospital for treatment, the spokesperson said. His condition has not been disclosed.

The suspect was not found. Police said it remains unclear exactly what happened leading up to the shooting.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward, the police spokesperson said.
