Noah still the most popular boy's name in Netherlands; Noor takes 1st pace for girls

Last year, Noah was the most popular baby boy’s name in the Netherlands for the seventh consecutive year. A whopping 883 baby boys were named Noah in 2025. For girls, Noor topped the list, jumping from seventh place in 2024, the Social Insurance Bank (SVB) reported.

705 baby girls were named Noor last year. In 2024, Emma was the most popular name for girls. The name dropped to seventh place in 2025, with 605 baby girls named Emma.

A total of 165,759 babies were born in the Netherlands last year: 84,774 boys and 80,985 girls. Noah has been in the top position for boys since 2019. It also took first place in 2017, but dropped to fifth place in 2018.

The top ten most popular names for both boys and girls remained similar to previous years, with only the position shifting. The only newcomer was the name Finn for boys, entering the top ten in ninth position.
