17-year-old pedestrian killed while walking on A2 highway near Den Bosch

A 17-year-old boy from Rosmalen died early Sunday after being struck by a vehicle on the A2 highway near Den Bosch. The incident occurred around 1:15 a.m. on the road heading toward Utrecht, police reported.

According to NOS, the teenager was walking on the main roadway at the time of the collision. Authorities said it is unclear why he was on the road, but they ruled out any criminal activity.

The A2 at Den Bosch features a main thoroughfare for through traffic and parallel lanes with on- and off-ramps in both directions.

Emergency services, including paramedics and the Forensic Investigation Unit, responded to the scene. Officials said nothing could be done to save the teenager upon their arrival.

Police deployed screens to shield the area and temporarily closed the highway in the direction of Utrecht.
