Fire engulfs multi-unit farmhouse in Geldrop, residents escape safely
A large fire broke out Sunday afternoon in a multi-unit farmhouse on Gijzenrooi in Geldrop, forcing residents to evacuate but causing no injuries, according to Omroep Brabant. The blaze was reported around 12:30 p.m., and firefighters later brought it under control.
A local press photographer at the scene reported that the fire spread toward a second unit. The fire department confirmed that one home was directly affected, while neighboring residences sustained smoke and water damage.
Firefighters deployed two fire engines, a ladder truck, and two water tankers to ensure adequate water supply. “We had to carry out demolition work to reach the fire’s source effectively,” said a spokesperson for the Geldrop fire department.
Residents were at home when the fire started but were able to exit the building safely. Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire.
