Police fatally shoot man armed with knife in Rozenburg apartment

Police shot and killed a man Friday evening inside a fourth-floor apartment in Rozenburg after he confronted them with a knife, Rotterdam police reported on X.

"The shooting occurred around 6 p.m. in a residence on Ruygeplaat," Rotterdam police wrote on X. After responding to a report, officers encountered a man wielding a knife.

Emergency services, including an ambulance and a trauma helicopter, were dispatched to the scene, but the man died from his injuries despite medical efforts.

The Rijksrecherche—the Dutch national department that investigates police actions—has launched an investigation. It is standard procedure in incidents involving police firearm use.
