Taxi driver beats up woman at Schiphol after argument
A taxi driver assaulted a 21-year-old woman at Schiphol Airport on Saturday evening, leaving her with a cut nose and a broken wrist. The police arrested the man on the highway as he tried to flee, a spokesperson for the Koninklijke Marechaussee told NH Nieuws.
The incident happened in the airport’s departure hall at around 6:15 p.m. According to the spokesperson, the woman was at the airport with her 16-year-old brother. She got into an argument with the taxi driver, and that escalated to an assault.
The taxi driver reportedly kicked and punched the young woman, leaving her with a cut nose and a broken wrist. The taxi driver fled the scene, but witnesses managed to take down his license plate number. The police pulled him over and arrested him on the highway toward Lijnden a short time later.
The man is suspected of aggravated assault. The Koninklijke Marechaussee is handling the investigation.
