Fatal house fire in Ooij claims a life

A deadly house fire broke out early Saturday morning on Prinses Christinastraat in Ooij, resulting in the death of one person, Gelderland police stated. The blaze began shortly before 5 a.m. at the residence.

Police said one person died in the fire but have not released the victim’s identity or confirmed whether they were a resident. Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire and the circumstances of the fatality.

Firefighters arriving on the scene encountered heavy flames at the back of the house. Two fire engines were deployed, and the response was escalated to a “medium-level fire” due to the intensity of the flames.

Police have launched an investigation. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
