Police fear 25-year-old missing in Alkmaar may be the victim of a crime
Tijn, a 25-year-old from Alkmaar who has been missing for almost three weeks, may have disappeared as a result of a crime or could currently be in danger, police said on television program Opsporing Verzocht. Dutch authorities made a public appeal on Tuesday night for help in determining what happened to the missing man.
Footage was shown of Tijn’s movements during his final days before he disappeared. There is a possibility that he was last seen on September 15 on the Dollardstraat in Alkmaar, with one witness claiming as such. But police have also said that there is no concrete evidence to support this claim.
Before this, he was seen withdrawing money from an ATM in Alkmaar on September 11, cycling from Daalmeer to the area near Rekerhout park on September 12, before being spotted at the shopping center De Mare later that day.
Police found his bicycle by the Deurloopplein last Thursday. They have received 12 tips about Tijn’s disappearance since they brought the case to the media last Friday.
One of Tijn’s friends told RTL Nieuws on Friday, “He just lives like any 25-year-old. As far as we’re aware, he has nothing to do with drugs or crime, and there’s no indication he was struggling with life. We really don’t know where he could be.”
Tijn is 1.73 meters tall and has short, reddish hair. On the afternoon of September 11, he was wearing a Moncler jacket and Nike sneakers. The following afternoon, he was likely still wearing the same jacket and shoes.
Police have urged anyone with any information regarding Tijn’s disappearance to come forward.
