Missing Alkmaar man, 25, found dead; Two held on suspicion of murder or manslaughter
Authorities have confirmed that Tijn, a 25-year-old from Alkmaar who had been missing since mid-September, has been found dead. According to the Public Prosecution Service (OM), two men previously taken into custody are now suspected of murder or manslaughter, as well as of concealing his body.
Two men from Alkmaar, aged 32 and 38, were arrested on October 16 in connection with the case and remain in custody. “The court chamber will review the extension of their pre-trial detention on Wednesday, October 29. The criminal investigation is ongoing,” the OM said in a statement.
The OM has not revealed where Tijn’s body was found, citing the ongoing investigation. The cause of death has yet to be determined. “Our thoughts are with Tijn’s relatives,” the OM added. Police stated at the end of September that Tijn may have been the victim of a crime. The incident was discussed in the show "Opsporing Verzocht."
Tijn was last seen in Alkmaar on September 12, while cycling from the Daalmeer district toward Rekerhout Park, he had also visited De Mare shopping center later that day. His bicycle was recovered by the Deurloopplein. He was reported missing two days later.
Prosecutors have requested anyone with any information regarding Tijn's death to report this.
