Suspect in Leiderdorp murder had been scheduled for court over death threats

The suspect in the murder of a 52-year-old woman from Leiderdorp was already under supervision from the authorities. Marvin B., 37, the victim’s former boyfriend, was scheduled to appear in court on February 5 over “serious and persistent death threats” directed at the victim, named Elvira.

B. was arrested last Saturday evening in or near Elvira’s home on Bolderikkamp, immediately following a report of a violent incident. According to witnesses, he was covered in blood at the time.

The Public Prosecution Service (OM) has dropped the earlier case of death threats in light of a new, more serious charge of murder or manslaughter.

Forensic investigators worked late Sunday night into Monday around the Bolderikkamp residence. The police also collected neighborhood CCTV footage to reconstruct the precise timeline of events on Saturday evening.

Locals describe the relationship as a turbulent “on-and-off” affair, marked by frequent disputes, according to Omroep West. Meanwhile, on social media, another woman has shared that B. allegedly turned violent toward her following a rejection.

The examining magistrate decided on Tuesday that B. will stay in detention for at least two more weeks. He is subject to complete isolation, with contact limited solely to his lawyer.

The family expresses gratitude for the support received but requests privacy and quiet to grieve. They ask people, in particular, to avoid sharing messages on social media.

A temporary memorial has appeared in front of the Bolderikkamp house, where neighbors and friends have laid flowers and candles in large numbers. The municipality of Leiderdorp has involved Victim Support Netherlands for residents who witnessed the arrest of the blood-covered suspect, which caused considerable distress in the otherwise quiet neighborhood.

Marvin B. is scheduled to appear before the court’s council chamber in two weeks, at the end of January 2026. At that session, it will be determined whether his pretrial detention is extended by 30 or 90 days.
