Police stop two drivers in Noord-Brabant for extreme speeds in separate incidents
Two drivers were stopped in separate incidents in Noord-Brabant on Friday after being caught at extreme speeds, police said. Both cases are under further review by prosecutors.
On Friday night in Teteringen, officers pursued a car racing down Oosterhoutseweg at 200 kilometers per hour through a built-up area where the speed limit is 50, Omroep Brabant reported.
His license was immediately confiscated, and prosecutors will determine how long he will be banned from driving. Authorities also said he will be required, at his own expense, to complete a course at the Central Office for Motor Vehicle Driver Testing (CBR).
Hours earlier on Friday afternoon, a 47-year-old man from Tilburg was stopped on the N279 between Den Bosch and Veghel after being clocked at an average of 168 kilometers per hour in an 80 zone, Omroep Brabant reported separately.
Police said the driver not only exceeded the limit but also engaged in reckless maneuvers, including overtaking on the right and tailgating multiple vehicles. His license and car were seized on the spot.
