Lidl recalls red miso butter over labeling error that omits soy allergen
Lidl has issued a recall of its Chef Select red miso butter after a production error placed the wrong label on some products, causing soy, a major allergen, to be missing from the packaging, according to the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) The supermarket chain warned that people with soy allergies could face serious health risks if they consume the product.
The recall applies specifically to red miso butter with an expiration date of October 5, 2025, and barcode number 8718796059271. Lidl stressed that only this batch is affected by the labeling mistake.
Customers who purchased the miso butter are advised not to eat it if they have a soy allergy. Those without an allergy are not at risk, but the company emphasized that accurate allergen labeling is required to protect consumers with sensitivities.
Lidl announced that shoppers can return the affected product to any store location. The full purchase price will be refunded, even without a receipt.
