Police officers rescue 2-year-old boy from the top of a high scaffold in Zeist
A 2-year-old boy was rescued from the top of a high scaffold on Korte Steynlaan in Zeist on Monday evening, the police said.
According to RTV Utrecht, passersby noticed the child and immediately called authorities. Upon arrival, one officer engaged the boy in conversation to keep him calm, while a second officer climbed the scaffold and reached the child in time to prevent a fall.
“The police are shocked by the situation and call it a heroic act by the officer who reached the toddler in time,” officials said.
The boy was safely handed over to his mother at the bottom of the scaffold. The fire department was called as a precaution but was not required to intervene.
It remains unclear whether the child climbed the scaffold on his own or reached it by climbing out of a nearby window.
