Police break up illegal Limburg car meeting involving 600 vehicles

Police in Limburg intervened overnight to break up an illegal car meeting involving an estimated 600 vehicles, citing public nuisance and dangerous behavior, NOS reported. Attendees caused disturbances with loud music, fireworks, and reckless driving, according to authorities.

The unauthorized gathering began at an industrial site in Ittervoort. When police moved to shut it down, organizers attempted to relocate. “The large group of cars moved from Ittervoort to Venlo. There, several attempts were made to restart the meeting at different locations,” police said in a statement. Officers prevented the event from resuming in Venlo. The participants eventually abandoned the effort, police reported.

No arrests were made, but several drivers were fined for offenses including dangerous driving, using a phone while behind the wheel, and driving with false license plates.

Car meetings are informal gatherings where enthusiasts showcase their modified vehicles and perform stunts. These events often draw large crowds and sometimes attract attendees from neighboring Germany.
