Cyclist killed in train collision in Borne; Police investigate cause

A cyclist was killed in a train collision near Jupiterstraat in Borne early Saturday morning. The accident occurred around 2 a.m., and authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police have not yet released details about the victim’s identity. It remains unclear how the cyclist ended up on the tracks. Officials are conducting an inquiry to determine the exact cause of the crash.

This marks the second fatal train collision involving a cyclist in the region this month. Earlier in March, a 41-year-old man from Bocholt was killed in Winterswijk after being struck by a train while riding a speed pedelec.

Railway traffic in the area was temporarily disrupted following the accident. Emergency services responded to the scene, but the cyclist did not survive the impact. Authorities have urged the public to exercise caution near railway crossings.
