Ajax supporters announce Dam Square party to celebrate club’s 125th anniversary
The 125th anniversary of the Amsterdam football club Ajax will be celebrated on the Dam square. This announcement was made by AFCA Supportersclub and F-Side on X on Tuesday, March 18.
“It is almost party time! On Tuesday, March 18, it will be 125 years since Ajax was founded. This historic moment happened at the start of the Kalverstraat, close to the Dam,” F-Side wrote on X.
The club was founded on March 18, 1900 in the Kalverstraat and that is why the initiators think that the location is a logical choice. “This is the right spot to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the club. On the Dam, in the hart of our city Amsterdam, we will toast this special moment,” the group told NH Nieuws.
The Amsterdam club is the most successful in the Netherlands. They have 36 league titles along with 20 KNVB Cups and four UEFA Champions League/European Cup titles.
Ajax could give their fans more to celebrate in the coming week. The Amsterdammers travel to Frankfurt on Thursday in the UEFA Europa League, where they are currently 2-1 down, before continuing their hunt for the Eredivisie title in a big game against AZ Alkmaar on Sunday.
It would be Ajax’s first league title in three years if they were able to get it over the line. Francesco Farioli’s side are currently eight points clear of their nearest challengers, PSV.
