Man kidnapped in Breda; Police investigation ongoing
A 24-year-old man was kidnapped late Friday night at an athletics club on Dr. Schaepmanlaan in Breda, according to police. The man was taken around midnight by armed suspects dressed in black clothing and wearing balaclavas.
Police stated that the victim's family is deeply concerned about his health, as he requires medication. Authorities warned that failure to take the medication could be life-threatening but did not disclose further details due to privacy concerns.
It is unclear which direction the vehicle carrying the man traveled after the abduction. "The investigation has been ongoing since midnight," a police spokesperson said.
Athletics club SPRINT stated on its website that its gates and track were locked when the kidnapping took place. "The incident took place in the adjacent parking lot, which is public," the club reported.
The parking lot, located next to the Mastbos in Breda, is shared with other sports facilities, including a hockey club. According to SPRINT, the parking lot is no longer considered an active crime scene. "The training sessions scheduled for Saturday morning can continue safely and without risk," the club stated.
The police have not released details about the suspects or a possible motive. Witnesses have been interviewed, but it remains unclear how many people saw the abduction.
